Golder is currently seeking Environmental Field Technician to join our team on a contractual basis based in London, Ontario . The successful candidate(s) will join our growing Contaminated Sites team serving our large oil and gas client.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field work related to monitoring, investigating, remediating and reclaiming contaminated sites impacted with hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, crude oil etc.) salts and metals. It is expected the candidate will be self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.
An overview of yourrole will include:
Preparingand adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminaterisks to you, Golder's clients, employees and the public
Identifyingand reporting potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents and lossincidents
Maintainingexcellent field notes and collecting and handling soil and groundwater samples
Carryingout field work (i.e. groundwater monitoring, K-test data collection andanalysis, soils sampling through test pit excavations or borehole drilling,subcontractor supervision, and drilling investigations, etc.) or officeassignments under the direction of more experienced scientists and technicalemployees
Supervisingsubcontractors for ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, boreholedrilling, groundwater monitoring well installation and test pit excavation
Overseeingremedial contractors including directing remedial excavations, waste trackingand progress reporting
Preparingand coordinating project documentation, subcontractors and equipment for fieldprograms
Filingand managing all project related field notes including some data entry andassistance with report preparation
Performingand recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adheringto current industry standards and regulatory requirements
You will have abackground in:
Diplomain environmental sciences
Apositive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and the ability towork with little supervision
Aminimum of one year of experience in contaminated site assessments
Strongawareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude
Stronginterpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail andaccuracy of field notes
Avalid driver’s license
Previousexperience with soil and groundwater sampling is an asset
Eligibilityfor professional certification is an asset
