Golder has a new opportunity for an Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Sites team on a contractual basis in London or Windsor, Ontario.
An overview of your role will include:
Carrying out Phase I ESAs, including historical record searches, site visits, interviews, hazardous materials assessments, and report preparation
Performing tasks associated with Phase II, III ESAs and remediation projects, including soil logging and sampling, surveying, and supervision of borehole drilling and monitoring well installation programs
Performing field work associated with monitored natural attenuation, including but not limited to groundwater and surface water sampling, stream flow measurements, soil vapour sampling, indoor air sampling, and installation amendments to enhance natural attenuation
Potential for involvement in mine site construction, monitoring, and remediation projects
Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, Golder’s clients, employees, and the public
Maintaining excellent field notes, compiling analytical results, and preparing site investigation reports for review by senior technical staff
Preparing project documentation for field programs, coordinating subcontractors and equipment
You will have a background in:
A diploma in engineering technology or a bachelor’s degree in earth sciences or engineering
A positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn, self-starter, and the ability to work with little supervision
Strong awareness of health and safety responsibilities, and a safety-conscious attitude
Strong interpersonal communication skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy of field notes
A valid driver’s license, and access to a vehicle for light-duty projects within the area (reimbursable)
Previous experience with environmental site assessments or fieldwork is an asset
Eligibility for professional certification is an asset
