Golder has an opportunity for a Hydrogeologist Intern in our Manchester, New Hampshire office. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student or recent graduate to assist with various office activities focused on hydrogeology and groundwater modeling, with the potential for some field work.
This internship is designed to provide a hands-on opportunity to apply academic experience and develop their technical skills in a professional consulting environment.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Working under the supervision of, and support from, project managers and project technical staff who have various project-related needs including, but not limited to:
Conduct technical analyses and calculations, including hydrogeological analyses and numerical modeling
Assist with field investigations, including well installation; analysis of aquifer tests; and collection of soil and groundwater samples
Entry, management, organization, visualization, and quality control of project data through multiple software platforms; strong Microsoft excel skills are a plus
Assist with preparation of project deliverables such as proposals, reports, figures, graphs, and tables
Assist with preparation for field events
Potentially assist field staff at project sites in support of site characterization, remediation, due diligence, compliance, monitoring, and construction
Safely performing work, in the office and potentially in the field. Fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance), and operating vehicles on behalf of the company
Maintaining a high standard of ethical behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrate a commitment to our Core Values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, caring, and ownership
The successful candidate will possess:
Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s degree, or current enrollment in a geology/hydrogeology, environmental engineering, environmental science or related undergraduate (juniors or seniors preferred) or graduate program, with completed coursework in either hydrology, hydrogeology, water resources engineering, or similar.
Prior knowledge of common numerical modeling software such as, GMS, Visual Modflow, GW Vistas, and/or EVS, etc.
The ability to work full-time (40 hours per week; approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Monday to Friday) this summer for approximately 3 months
Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with attention to detail
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is required for fieldwork, with preferential consideration for candidates with this training; however, it will be provided if needed
