We have an opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Engineering and Stability team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting Brisbane based opportunity with growth potential an expanding rock mechanic team.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Developing and leading a thriving rock mechanics capability in Australia, with international exposure;
Developing innovative solutions to mining problems across a variety of commodities and deposits;
Carry out operations and planning reviews, due diligence studies for mining projects and scoping to feasibility level investigations;
Providing guidance to project teams, working across a range of technical disciplines;
Undertaking business development and client development activities to ensure continuity of the rock mechanics work for your team and long-term client relationships; and
Providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/ eliminating high priority safety hazards.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
A Bachelor of Civil or Mining Engineering or Science degree in Geology or related discipline and post graduate degree in Geotechnical engineering or Engineering geology is desirable;
Registered Professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body;
Experience in Leapfrog or similar software for data visualization and geotechnical characterization is highly desirable;
Numerical modelling and coding experience (e.g. Python) experience will be highly regarded;
Strong ability to interact and influence internal and external stakeholders using effective interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Well-developed project management and strong leadership skills; and
Strong business development skills and ability to maintain client rapport.
