A hands-on opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Instrumentation Engineer based in our Brisbane office. This role is site and office based with regular travel, where you will deliver geotechnical instrumentation, data logging and telemetry projects within the mining, civil infrastructure, hydrogeology and environmental industries for Golder clients.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Delivering technical geotechnical instrumentation projects from tender through to implementation on site;
Designing, fabricating, programming and bench test data logging and telemetry systems;
Site installation of instrumentation and commissioning of data logging and telemetry systems;
Carrying out data processing, web presentation and ongoing system maintenance both remotely from the office and on site;
Delivering proposal and installation reports incorporating senior reviews;
Developing client relationships and building business networks that turn into commercial opportunities;
Mentoring, coordinating and reviewing activities carried out by junior engineers; and
Identifying safety hazards and reporting OH&S incidents including fostering a health and safety culture with the team.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in electronic, civil, mining, geotechnical engineering or a relevant diploma or trade qualification including at least 10 years of instrumentation experience preferred;
Demonstrated technical experience in one or more of the following:
Instrumentation such as piezometers, inclinometers, extensometers, strain gauges and load cells;
Data logging, either commercial stand-alone loggers and/or SCADA/PLC;
Data logger programming (Campbell Scientific preferred);
Telemetry experience such as wireless radio, IP and/or satellite modem;
Fabrication and bench testing of data logging systems;
Experience managing small to mid-size projects to ensure targets and deadlines are met;
High attention to detail, excellent problem solving and analytical skills coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
Ability to lead a small team on site to complete projects on time and budget.
