Golder is looking for a Principal Rock Mechanic Engineer to join our global mining business. This is full-time position based in our Brisbane office, alternate locations will be considered as a part of our flexibility. This role is part of a global rock engineering team focussed on building and delivering work to our mining clients within Australia and internationally with the support of the wider global team.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Undertaking business development focussed on expanding opportunities with local and global key clients and developing new and existing business opportunities including new technical service offerings;
Overseeing all aspects of the project life-cycle (proposal, contract, scope of work, technical quality and senior review) and consulting with appropriate peers;
Delivering technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to clients which meet time, budget, quality and safety requirements for open pit and underground mining projects;
Increasing our local and global visibility and profile of our innovative and expanding capabilities in rock engineering as a differentiator from competitors, using direct client contact, social media, online platforms and involvement in mining professional organisations and other avenues;
Introducing innovative tools and processes developed by global rock mechanics teams to the Australian teams and external market;
Actively mentoring and developing staff across the business in the interests of their long-term career objectives and operational needs;
Contributing to local and global strategy development for the regional mining business, and leading aspects of the implementation of the strategy; and
Demonstrating an active commitment to Golder’s safety culture.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Bachelor degree or similar in engineering or science and a postgraduate qualification in rock mechanics or geotechnical engineering, as well as a Registered Professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body;
Demonstrated understanding of market dynamics, and demonstrated ability to develop and sustain long-term client relationships through commitment to client service excellence;
Strong ability to interact and influence internal and external stakeholders using effective interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to build high performing teams couple with strong leadership skills;
Strong business development skills and ability to maintain client rapport.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Well-developed project management skills.
