An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Study Manager based in Brisbane or Perth . This will provide you the opportunity to be involved in all stages of a project’s lifecycle for mining projects across the Globe.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing large, multi-disciplinary projects that include but not limited to high levels of complexity in financial risk, safety and security in high risk countries;

  • Consulting with key stakeholders and team members to map out the key scope and deliverables for the study;

  • Analysing, problem solving and guiding the team to focus on the key drivers, to define and achieve the study objectives, for achieving success on its completion;

  • Guiding and mentoring multi-discipline teams with their messaging and preparation for client as well as internal review processes/presentations;

  • Instilling diversity of thought within the team to challenge and adapt old and new approaches and processes to solve problems and find best solutions to project management;

  • Overseeing projects under the client’s Terms and Conditions which may require rigorous negotiation and review;

  • Taking projects from original concept through to final implementation;

  • Creating project budgets, using appropriate software, for projects with gross revenue in excess of $5 million;

  • Developing the project scope and objectives, as well as clarifying the role and function of each team member in order to effectively co-ordinate the activities of the team;

  • Assembling project teams and assigning individuals tasks, and identifying and securing appropriate resources where needed;

  • Determining when adaptability and flexibility are required in the development of project scope;

  • Identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risk on projects where the client may not have a full understanding of the project risks;

  • Providing regular progress reports for clients, project teams and other internal and external stakeholders; and

  • Exhibiting role model behaviors related to HSSE, business needs, and team development.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualified in Engineering, Science, Environmental or related discipline coupled with at least 15 years’ experience in Study Management and/or Project Management within the mining industry;

  • Demonstrated experience developing multi-disciplinary project budgets, financial tracking and change management related to scopes of work;

  • Demonstrated experience in managing large multi-discipline teams with a focus on developing capability;

  • Experience in identifying and mitigating against project risks and developing risk registers;

  • Expertise in project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (using MS suite of programs, or similar programs);

  • Highly organized, adaptable leader who is calm under pressure, and has a proven focus on the management of clients and subcontractors.
