Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our Global Mining team for a Technical Writer, based in Brisbane . Due to recently securing several key projects, we are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to perform and edit work across operating regions. This will include the potential of more complex writing/editing tasks that will involve the use of independent judgement and sound decision making to ensure success.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Editing documents prepared by subject matter experts across Business Units to the agreed upon level (i.e., copy edit, stylistic edit) to improve readability, promote consistency, and manage risk;
Preparing and maintaining project-specific style sheets for use by authors, reviewers, editors, and administrative support staff;
Assisting technical consults in project delivery documentation where English is a second language;
Preparing and maintaining editing checklists for large, multi-discipline projects;
Drafting non-technical sections of documents prepared by subject matter experts;
Supporting development and maintenance of internal writing style guides for use as GAIMS guidelines in various Business Units;
Assisting with the development of technical writing training across operating regions;
Assisting in the preparation of new technical procedures and revisions to existing technical procedures; and
Supervising junior technical writing/editing staff with respect to their technical development.
Skills and Qualifications
You will have your tertiary qualifications in Bachelor of Arts or equivalent from an accredited University with five years of technical writing and/or editing experience;
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
Formal training in technical writing or editing and editing certification;
Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary project teams; and
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
