Golder Associates Senior Geomechanics Engineer in Miraflores, Peru

In Golder we are looking for a " Senior Geomechanical Engineer " to join our team in Perú, on a full time contract basis based in Lima.

The Senior Geomechanics Engineer plays a key role in planning and running a sustainable business, developing clients and people, delivering projects with excellence, managing risks, promoting innovation, shaping a healthy, safe and respectful work culture and contributing directly to the overall success of the Rock Mechanics group in Perú. The role is critical to the development and successful implementation of the strategy and business plans for the group; maintains active participation with clients and projects.

The Senior Geomechanics Engineer is responsible to manage the business risks, in terms of the assessment of the opportunities, conditions to execute the work and regular follow up on projects identifying any new risks or misalignment and implement effective corrective actions agreed with the relevant stakeholders.

Main Tasks:

  • Lead business development initiatives for the Rock Mechanics Group in Perú. Including actively searching for business opportunities and proposals preparation (technical and economical).

  • Projects technical lead, for Rock Mechanics group.

  • Project Management, including assigning resources (human and financial), and supervising the project evolution/ status, both financial and physic progress of the project.

  • Provide Support to the Regional Technical lead on the implementation of group strategies un Perú.

  • Stablish relationships with other groups, inside and outside of the regional, looking to stablish synergies and develop projects that require multidisciplinary teams.

  • Acts as a mentor for intermediate and Junior members of the staff/team.

  • Acts a Leader on Health & Safety related topics for the group.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Civil, Mining Engineer or alike, with 15 years of professional experience on applied geomechanics to underground and open pit mining projects.

  • Postgraduate degree on Rock Mechanics or alike (desirable)

  • Detailed knowledge of geotechnical characterization, rock mass classification systems, and rock slope design.

  • Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation systems.

  • Experience leading engineering studies for mining projects, including ground investigation, geotechnical characterization and design of rock excavations (slopes and / or underground works).

  • Experience in numerical modeling applied to geomechanical problems (Desirable)

  • Experience managing engineering projects.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience writing technical articles for professional associations, seminars and specialized publications (desirable)

  • Advanced English (native desirable), both oral and written.

  • Software knowledge/ experience; RocData, Dips, Slide, RS2. (Itasca desirable).

  • Capacity to adapt to new situations.

  • Ability to express his or herself clearly and logically, both writing and orally.
