Golder Associates Intermediate Geological Engineer in MISSISSAUGA, Ontario

Golder has a new opportunity for a Geological Engineer to join our Mine Stability Team in the Greater Toronto Area (office location in the GTA is flexible).

An overview of your role will include:

  • Mentoring and leadership to junior staff

  • Project management, team leadership, report writing

  • Networking with Golder / WSP offices and staff around the world

  • Technical review of the work of others

  • Geotechnical data collection (core logging, field mapping, photogrammetry)

  • Downhole geotechnical and hydrogeological instrumentation, data processing and review

  • Structural analysis of surface and subsurface structural data, kinematic stability assessments for geometry and support design.

  • Development of geotechnical rock mass models and statistical block modeling of geomechanical parameters

  • Conceptual, prefeasibility, and feasibility open pit and waste dump slope design studies

  • Optimization of open pit slope, underground geometries and waste dump designs

  • Limit equilibrium stability analyses and detailed numerical modeling assessments using computer programs such as Slide, SVSlope, RS2, UDEC, FLAC, FLAC3D and 3DEC, back and predictive.

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) in Geological or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalency

  • 5 years of experience in geological engineering

  • Strong computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and/or various engineering software;

  • Familiar with engineering field skills such as field measurement and geological mapping, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling;

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams;

  • A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable;

  • It is also beneficial to be comfortable in remote settings, with a can-do attitude, and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands
