Golder Associates Intermediate Waste Engineer in MISSISSAUGA, Ontario

Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Waste Engineer to join our Engineering Operation team on a full time basis from either our Mississauga or Barrie locations.

With support from our waste group leaders and staff in Ontario, you will help to develop our waste practice, in consultation and with direct support from our senior waste engineers, you will be part of a team providing services to our clients and to execute the our strategies. You will have a broad range of work duties for landfills and waste management facilities including project management, assessment, design, permitting, tendering, contract administration, project implementation, construction quality assurance, environmental monitoring, remediation, marketing and proposals.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Working with other team members on assessment, design, approval, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of landfills, waste processing and transfer facilities, including material recovery, composting, organics management/diversion and energy utilization facilities and associated innovative processes

  • Assisting clients with procurement and review of contractor bids for landfills and waste management contracts

  • Managing landfill and waste facilities projects and assisting senior professionals on large or complex projects

  • Overseeing the efforts of junior staff including, but not limited to, associated permitting work, design and approval, tendering, contract administration and construction quality assurance

  • Contribution to marketing and business development initiatives

  • Preparation of proposals and working on projects for landfills, waste management facilities, and waste planning projects

  • Assistance in managing waste clients in the public and private sectors

  • Assisting other team members to assess opportunities and engage waste management practice connected to climate change initiatives including greenhouse gas reduction

  • Participation in the execution of Golder’s waste practice strategy through development of waste management projects and clients, and engagement in waste related organizations

You will have a background in:

  • Licenced Professional Engineer in Ontario (registered P.Eng.)

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, and a post-graduate degree is an asset

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in the waste management industry is preferred. consideration will be given to candidates with slightly less years of experience, but proven strong records

  • Experience with projects involving hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering and compliance approvals

  • Successfully executing projects with minimal supervision

  • Strong and effective writing skills and experience with engineering specifications, operation and maintenance manuals and reports on assessment, design, environmental monitoring, and construction quality assurance. Experience in these areas for landfills and waste management facilities is preferred

  • Civil engineering design and construction quality assurance field experience. Design and construction quality assurance field experience in landfills and waste management facilities is an asset

  • Knowledge of the Ontario regulations and guidelines for waste and waste management facilities;

  • An interest in business development and in the establishment and maintenance of good client relationships

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Active participation in waste management and diversion industry organizations in Ontario is an asset.

  • Willingness to travel
