Golder Associates Junior Climate Change Specialist in MISSISSAUGA, Ontario

Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Climate Change Specialist , to join our Sustainable Development and Climate Change Technical Community in the Mississauga or Toronto office.

You will use your risk assessment and climate change skills by working closely with management and other Golder discipline teams to help clients with disclosure, adapt to a changing climate, mitigate their emissions, and make better decisions around long term planning.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Supporting multi-discipline climate change projects across a variety of sectors to identify climate change risks, assess adaptation options using a variety of tools and document the assumptions, rational and plans required to implement these actions

  • Reporting to Environment, Social and Governance Frameworks

  • Written and oral communication both within multi-disciplinary teams and with clients

  • Project and proposal completion, including (but not limited to) project finances, schedule, deliverables, and working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, as well as client/sub-contractor relationships

  • Supporting business development, including developing marketing plans, tools and initiatives with senior staff members and climate change team.

  • Work under the direction of senior staff to complete business plan objectives at the local, regional and global scale

  • Other duties as assigned

You will have a background in:

  • Climate change, meteorology or atmospheric science as demonstrated by a post-secondary degree or demonstrated expertise in the consulting field

  • Climate change vulnerability and risk assessment methodologies with demonstrated experience applying these tools

  • Climate change models and data portals, with demonstrated experience in applying analysis from climate models to support risks assessments and decision-making tools

  • Organizing and providing support during workshops involving participation from stakeholders and demonstrated experience summarizing and presenting results with an emphasis on written communication

  • Computer skills for data management and manipulation including strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

  • The following experience would be considered an asset:

  • Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) at a corporate level

  • Climate disclosure including the Task Force on Climate Disclosure

  • Climate or Risk certifications Application of both meteorology and climate models to develop climate data sets

  • Spoken and written competencies in French or Spanish
