Golder has a new opportunity for Laboratory Technicians to join our Process Infrastructure and Design Group on a contractual basis. As a Laboratory Technician, you will work closely with other team members, as well as with Engineering Consultants and Field Technicians.
An overview of your role will include:
Experience in carrying out laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete and other construction materials to various industry standards
Entering test data and produce standard test reports
Shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage of and disposal of samples
Cleaning, maintaining, repairing, and calibration of laboratory testing equipment
Assisting with ordering and re-supply of laboratory and field supplies
General laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties as required
Proper care, handling, and storage of various chemical products used in laboratory testing
Interacting with staff in the Office including field technicians and technologists, administrative and professional staff, as well as with some clients
You will have the following background and attributes:
Technician or Technology diploma in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
Ability to learn, comprehend, and to accurately and conscientiously perform standard test procedures in accordance with applicable standards
Appropriate ethical standards to maintain the reputation of the company and of the laboratory
Previous knowledge of the various ASTM, MTO and CSA test methods and protocols for soil, aggregate, asphaltic concrete and Portland cement concrete would be an asset
Ability to learn various calculation and reporting software
The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Safety oriented attitude; first aid and WHMIS training an asset
Good time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Flexible attitude with the ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required
Ability to work in a team environment
This position will primarily be field based. The proposed rotation will 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out. All travel related expenses will be re-imbursed by Golder.
