Golder has a new opportunity for Laboratory Technicians to join our Process Infrastructure and Design Group on a contractual basis. As a Laboratory Technician, you will work closely with other team members, as well as with Engineering Consultants and Field Technicians.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Experience in carrying out laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete and other construction materials to various industry standards

  • Entering test data and produce standard test reports

  • Shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage of and disposal of samples

  • Cleaning, maintaining, repairing, and calibration of laboratory testing equipment

  • Assisting with ordering and re-supply of laboratory and field supplies

  • General laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties as required

  • Proper care, handling, and storage of various chemical products used in laboratory testing

  • Interacting with staff in the Office including field technicians and technologists, administrative and professional staff, as well as with some clients

You will have the following background and attributes:

  • Technician or Technology diploma in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

  • Ability to learn, comprehend, and to accurately and conscientiously perform standard test procedures in accordance with applicable standards

  • Appropriate ethical standards to maintain the reputation of the company and of the laboratory

  • Previous knowledge of the various ASTM, MTO and CSA test methods and protocols for soil, aggregate, asphaltic concrete and Portland cement concrete would be an asset

  • Ability to learn various calculation and reporting software

  • The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

  • Safety oriented attitude; first aid and WHMIS training an asset

  • Good time management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible attitude with the ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required

  • Ability to work in a team environment

This position will primarily be field based. The proposed rotation will 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out. All travel related expenses will be re-imbursed by Golder.
