Golder has a new opportunity for a Pavement Engineer-in-Training to join our Ground Engineering team on a full-time basis based in Mississauga or Barrie.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • Providingtechnical services in a field and/or office environment

  • Providingtechnical assistance on pavement engineering projects and tasks related tovarious construction materials including concrete, asphalt, and soil/granularmaterials

  • Performingconstruction site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations

  • Carryingout field work related to condition surveys of concrete structures andpavements

  • Workingon a variety of small to large projects ranging from residential, commercial,and industrial developments to airports and mine sites

  • Developinga good rapport with various levels of technical staff to assist in coordinatingand scheduling field work of Golder employees and subcontractors

  • Usingspecialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports, and technicaldrawings

  • Summarizingand analyzing findings from investigations and laboratory testing for reportpreparation

  • Haveor develop familiarity with various testing methods and specifications(including but not limited to CSA, ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) and apply these to fieldand laboratory activities

  • Workingwith and providing support to other members of the group in assisting withother field and office activities as required

You will have abackground in:

  • Bachelor’sDegree from an accredited Canadian University in a Civil Engineering programpreferably with a focus on Civil, Materials and/or Pavement Engineering

  • Mustbe registered with PEO as an Engineer-in-Training or eligible to register

  • Willingnessand eligibility to work out of town on remote sites for up to 3 weeks at a time

  • Previousexperience sampling, testing, analyzing, designing, or working withconstruction materials including but not limited to, structural concrete,shotcrete, roller compacted concrete (RCC), self-consolidating concrete (SCC)or stabilized bases is an asset

  • CCIL,ACI certification for asphalt or concrete testing is an asset

  • Familiaritywith preparing and reading Construction Tenders is an asset

  • Previousexperience in a Contract/Construction Administrator role for infrastructurerelated projects responsible for overseeing work done by a Contractor and/orsub-contractors, preparing daily reports, etc. is an asset

  • Previousexperience carrying out OSIM’s bridge inspections and/or Detailed BridgeCondition Surveys is an asset

  • Previousexperience carrying out pavement condition evaluations and/or road’s needsassessments is an asset

  • CCIL,ACI certification for asphalt or concrete testing is an asset

  • Musthave access to a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license

  • Willingnessto eligibility to work out of town is an asset

  • Abilityto write simple proposals and reports for a variety of clients including butnot limited to owners and other consultants

  • Goodwritten and verbal communication skills

  • Strongorganizational skills
