Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Waste Engineer – Civil Engineer to join our team on a full time basis based in Mississauga . You will be a self-starter, with the ability to work regionally and nationally to support and grow our waste practice in Ontario. Our prime focus is on public and private clients engaged in waste management in Ontario. Opportunities also include waste management projects for clients of Golder in manufacturing, mining, and oil and gas industries. As a part of the team, you will contribute to a broad range of areas including business development, proposal, project management, design, permitting, tendering, contract administration and project implementation.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Participation in the development and execution of the overall Ontario waste practice strategy through development of waste management projects and clients, and engagement in waste related organizations

  • Lead and contributions to requests for proposals and ongoing projects

  • Lead and contribute to business development initiatives, proposals and projects

  • Lead, mentor, overseeing and review the efforts of junior and intermediate staff on waste management projects and associated permitting work

  • Managing waste clients in the public and private sectors with waste management facilities and projects, and their implementations

  • Assessment, design, approval and implementation of waste processing and transfer facilities, including material recovery, composting, organics management/diversion and energy utilization facilities and associated innovative processes

  • Assisting clients with procurement and review of contractor proposals and bids for waste facilities and systems related contracts

  • Lead and work with other senior team members on waste program planning and implementation including preparation of integrated waste management plans, recycling plans, zero waste plans and waste diversion plans

  • Assessment of opportunities, or assisting other team members, to engage the practice and our client business in aspects of waste management connected to climate change initiatives including greenhouse gas reduction

  • Collections analysis, including programs for municipal solid and organic waste

  • Opportunity for upward leadership growth and team/group leadership role (depending on candidate’s experience )

You will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (registered P.Eng.)

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and a post-graduate degree is an asset

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in the waste management industry is preferred; consideration will be given to candidates with slightly less years of experience, but proven strong records

  • Experience in multi-disciplinary projects for waste management facilities

  • Proven experience in successfully securing and executing projects

  • Networks of clients in the waste management industry is preferred, or the ability and interest to establish and maintain good client relationships

  • Proven track record of business acumen and business development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Active participation in waste management and diversion industry organizations in Ontario is an asset
