Golder has a new opportunity for a Mine Closure Technical Lead to join our Global Mining team on a full-time basis, to be based in North America.

Golder’s global mining group provides integrated engineering and environmental services to the mining industry, with clients that include mining companies, consultants, engineering firms, and financial institutions. Our mining team operates globally through a network of mining specialists located in North and Latin America, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Asia Pacific region, providing a unique range of services including environmental impact assessment and permitting, mine design, operation and waste management, and mine rehabilitation and closure. A global presence allows for broad, reliable and innovative services on a worldwide scale.

This role is integral to our development and delivery of our global mining strategy. The primary focus area for the Mine Closure Technical Lead is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of technically excellent closure plans and related studies for the world’s top mining companies.

Primary responsibilities for this role will be to:

  • Deliver consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of mine closure design, closure costing, rehabilitation and development of mine closure plans

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional, and international consulting projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to develop winning proposals and deliver projects

  • Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder team to implement business growth strategy and develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base

  • Support continued growth in the provision of closure and reclamation services for both national and international work

  • Mentor and grow multidisciplinary teams of professionals

  • Collaborate to identify, coordinate and undertake marketing and promotional activities

  • Establish alliances with other business units to support and enhance service delivery

You will have a background in:

  • At least 15 years of professional experience, with significant focus on mine closure

  • Relevant Degree within Environmental Science or Engineering

  • Professional Registration

  • A strong technical background and experience in a field related to mine closure (including, but not limited to reclamation, geochemistry, water management, and geotechnical engineering)

  • Experience with the development and execution of mine closure plans, preferably working with major mining companies

  • Demonstrated success in the consulting field, with the ability to build multidisciplinary teams, develop business, and provide excellent client service

  • Full professional proficiency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Second and third language skills also an asset, particularly French and Spanish

  • A history of publishing/presenting on closure related topics
