Golder has a new opportunity for a Water Quality Modeller to join our Mining team on a full-time basis in our Montreal office.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing reports, proposals, and presentations

  • Using coastal processes and water quality models to evaluate potential environmental effects of changes to estuarine, coastal and aquatic systems

  • Developing new models and modifying existing models

  • Completing conceptual model development, data analysis, and numerical modeling

  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to complete environmental impact assessments for large mining, oil and gas and infrastructure projects

  • Supporting and conducting field work including site visits and oceanographic data collection in coastal environments.This may include collation of oceanographic and water quality dataand site reconnaissance of coastal and remote locations.

  • Managing priorities to support multiple projects with competing deadlines

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • University degree (preferably Masters or Ph.D. in oceanography, environmental science, or environmental engineering)

  • At least 5 years of work experience in the field of oceanography or water quality modelling

  • Professional registration as a Geoscientist in Training as an Environmental Geoscientist in Quebec or proven eligibility for Professional registration in Canada

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated technical skills in surface water quality modelling and assessment

  • Proven ability to conduct independent analysis, develop visualizations, and interpret complex physical processes by analyzing geospatial and time series data.

  • Proven ability to develop and apply numerical models for the simulation of waves, currents, sediment transport, and morphology change in open coast, inlet, and estuarine environments.

  • Familiarity and experience using surface water quality or coastal processes modelling software (ie. Mike3, Mile 21, Delft3D, CORMIX, Goldsim, WASP, CE-QUAL-W2, HSPF etc.)
