Golder has a new opportunity for an entry-level Environmental Remediation Engineer to join our Mt. Laurel, NJ office on a full-time basis. This position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced team who provide solutions on environmental site remediation projects. The work entails a variety of field and office-related activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, effectively communicate, and promote our health and safety culture.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Under thedirection of senior staff, contribute to the design, construction, operation,maintenance, and monitoring of environmental remediation projects, includinggroundwater extraction and treatment, water / wastewater treatment,air sparge / soil vapor extraction, landfill gas mitigation, and landfillleachate collection and conveyance

  • Preparetechnical documents including design reports,engineering drawings, specifications, work plans,calculations, permit applications, and cost estimates

  • Identify,evaluate, and select equipment and materials for environmental remediationsystems, including tanks, pumps, piping, valves, monitoring instruments,control systems, and treatment equipment

  • Conduct fieldassignments, such as site reconnaissance, engineering data collection andmeasurements, operation and maintenance of environmental remediation systems,monitoring and documenting system data and conditions, collection ofenvironmental samples, and responding to / troubleshooting abnormal systemconditions

  • Contribute to the completion of environmentalmonitoring and technical reports, including data evaluation, trend analysis,and preparation of report narratives, tables, figures, and supportingdocumentation

  • Communicatewith, coordinate, and provide oversight of subcontractors, includingconstruction, installation, maintenance, and repairs of environmentalremediation systems

  • Provideengineering support on construction projects, including construction qualityassurance monitoring, documentation of construction progress, review ofcontractor submittals, and evaluation of contractor requests for information

  • Engaging in a team environment, working closely withproject managers and co-workers to complete work programs and document /communicate site conditions, observations, and activities

  • Handling equipment, including maintenance, calibrationto operational and regulatory requirements, and ability to lift and move aminimum of 50 pounds without assistance

  • Safely performing work, both in the field and office

  • Operating field vehicles safely on behalf of thecompany

  • Project assignments may include local and nationaltravel with possible short- to long-term assignments at project sites

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering

  • Up to three years’ relevant experience, with apreference for hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance ofenvironmental remediation systems or mechanical systems

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable) isrequired for site work; there is preferential consideration for candidates withthis training

  • Good verbal and written communication skillscombined with stronganalytical and computational abilities, and a positive attitude

  • Strong attention to detail; accuracy is essential

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office;preference for experience with AutoCAD, and other engineering software

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • A willingness to perform a variety of assignments onshort notice, and if needed on weekends and holidays

  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions

  • Ability to complete field events and travel up to 50% ofschedule for local and out-of-town project opportunities
