Golder is seeking a Graduate Environmental Scientist to work in our Mt. Laurel, New Jersey office. From this location, our team provides services to US and international clients in the private sector. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to join a fast-paced team who provides solutions to challenges on environmental remediation projects. The work entails a variety of office-related and outdoor “hands-on” activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, solve problems, and communicate proactively. The selected candidate must be comfortable using technology in the practice of environmental science and working in the field with project teams to support remedial investigations.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Engage in a team environment, working closely with project managers and co-workers to complete work programs

  • Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance) and operating vehicles on behalf of the company

  • Participate in range of field programs, including the collection, handling, and shipment of samples of various environmental media (e.g., groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) in compliance with State and Federal requirements

  • Coordinate and provide oversight of subcontractors (e.g., laboratories, drillers)

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor remedial systems

  • Accurately document (e.g., field forms, field notebooks, daily reports) and verbally communicating site conditions, observations, and activities

  • Contribute to environmental monitoring and technical reports, including compiling field and analytical data

  • Local and national travel up to 50%of the time with possible opportunities for long-term assignments

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or related fields

  • Entryl-level or up to five years relevant work experience

  • Computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including Microsoft Office

  • Excellent verbal with strong writing and organizational skills, a positive attitude, detail oriented, and ability to work both independently and within groups

  • Understanding the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or related fields

  • Experience in thesite remediation field, including internships

  • Experience with federal and state regulatory programs

  • Familiar with environmental remediation field skills

  • Ability to be comfortable in remote settings and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable) are required for site work, preferential consideration for candidates with this training
