Golder is seeking a Senior Project Hydrogeologist to join our Mt. Laurel, New Jersey office; may also consider Newark, New Jersey . From this location, our team provides services to US and international clients in the manufacturing, infrastructure, mining, and other sectors. This position offers an opportunity to join a fast-paced team who provides solutions to challenges on environmental projects. In this role you will work on environmental projects that involve field investigations, contractor oversight, technical document preparation, task and project management, and working as a team with coworkers. Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Managing tasks and projects associated with the implementation of field programs and report preparation

  • Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance) and operating vehicles on behalf of the company

  • Performing geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, hydrogeologic testing, contaminated sites investigations, and development of conceptual site models

  • Performing or managing subsurface field geologic/hydrogeologic investigation tasks including drilling, aquifer and geophysical testing, monitoring wells/piezometers installation, and environmental sample collection

  • Contributing to environmental monitoring and technical reports by compiling and interpreting data and summarizing findings

  • Preparing or assisting in the development of work plans and cost proposals

  • Procuring, coordinating, and overseeing subcontractors

  • Engaging in a team environment, working closely with project managers and co-workers to complete work programs

  • Collaboratively implementing Golder’s business growth strategy with colleagues

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with a broad network of internal and external clients

  • Mentoring junior staff

  • Traveling approximately 20% of schedule to perform or supervise out-of-town project work and develop business


  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology or geoscience-related field

  • Minimum of eight years relevant experience in a consulting environment

  • Demonstrated experience in interpretation of hydrogeologic data (e.g., groundwater potentiometric contours)

  • Experience and expertise in both field methods (drilling, well installation, hydrogeologic testing) and analytical methods (data interpretation and presentation)

  • Familiarity with using database and statistical applications, data presentation software, and groundwater and contaminant modeling programs

  • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent verbal skills with strong writing and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within groups

  • Strong attention to detail; accuracy is essential

  • Understanding the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs


  • Master’s degree in hydrogeology program

  • Professional license (e.g., PG, LSRP)

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable) often required for site work
