Golder has a new opportunity for a Geologist to join the Global Mine Engineering and Stability (MES) Group in our Naas office. In this role, you will provide technical support for a wide range of mining and ground engineering related projects under the supervision of senior mining team members on a full-time basis.
The role involves frequent on-site fieldwork and you will have the opportunity to work alongside professional consultants from various discipline groups on exciting and challenging projects both in Ireland, UK, Europe and internationally. The frequency and duration of site work will depend on business and client needs.
This position will suit someone with strong technical, analytical and modelling skills and an interest in applying their geological knowledge and experience in providing solutions to a diversified group of clients.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Design, planning, execution and supervision of ground investigationprogrammes, including logging of rock and soil core, sampling for laboratorytesting and field testing;
Development of 3D ground models based on the collection, collation andinterpretation of geological, geotechnical, geophysical and hydrogeologicalinformation;
Technical writing and input into reports and memos, including sectionsof Environmental Impact Statements;
Preparation of proposals and initial cost estimates for project work;
Have regular contact with clients and manage client’s relationships andexpectations;
Display a ‘safety first’ attitude in line with an interdependent healthand safety culture, promote positive health and safety, raise safety issuesthrough the appropriate channels and adhere to Golder health and safety policyand procedures;
Adhere to the Golder Code of Conduct at all times and raise concerns asappropriate. Regularly familiarise self with the Code of Conduct and how it isapplicable to own role/position within the organisation; and
Ensure actions and behaviours are aligned to Golder’s Equality Policy atall times.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Qualified to MSc level within Geology, Engineering Geology, MineralExploration, Mining Geology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics or related subject;
3 to 5 years post qualification in relevant in mining and ground engineeringrelated projects;
Experience with 3D mine visualisation software (e.g. Surpac, Datamine,Vulcan) and its use for mineral resource evaluation and 3D modelling;
Experience with GIS and CAD;
Experience in geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical datacollection, from planning through to execution (e.g. from both face mapping andcore logging, including familiarity with core orientation techniques);
Experience in ground investigation/drill programme management, inclusiveof Health and Safety management;
Experience in fieldwork and site supervision including at overseas sitelocations;
Developed report writing skills;
Strong project and task management skills;
Comfortable in a client facing role: Ability to liaise with clients andbuild/develop relationships effectively;
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (in English);
Effective business developer and networker, both internally andexternally;
Ability to work independently, display initiative and decision-makingskills;
Full driving licence;
Willingness and ability to travel in Ireland, UK, Europe andinternationally; and
Additional language skills desirable (e.g. French, Spanish, Russian).
The role will be both office and field based and thecandidate must be prepared to travel, both in Ireland and overseas for short tomedium periods of time.
