Golder has a new opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team on a permanent basis based in Naas, Ireland.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientists and modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering
Provide specialised technical input focused on landfill facilities, tailings management facilities, heap leach facilities, open pits, quarries, water impoundments and waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, geosynthetic materials engineering and related civil engineering work for projects worldwide
Assist project managers in the successful delivery of projects by managing own involvement in projects, including time, budget and quality control
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
Travel to landfill sites, mine sites and greenfield developments to assist clients in solving engineering problems and support construction of Golder designs. Travel outside of Ireland will require overnight stays, and likely duration will depend on the nature of the project/client needs
Develop and maintain good relationships with new and existing clients and be able to effectively represent Golder Associates on site
Liaise with the Mining Team networks, which include specialists within Golder both nationally and internationally. To include participation in Europe’s Mining Team meetings and calls as and when required
Provide mentoring and coaching to other team members of graduate level
Assist others in carrying out business development activities including preparation of technical proposals

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on and proven ability in soil mechanics
Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations
Mining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilities
The ability to interpret and monitor results and use a variety of tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirements
Demonstrable theoretical and practical experience of project management and consultancy, including supporting client relationships, projects, and project teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)
Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage client and other professional relationships
Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment
Full Driving Licence
Willingness and ability to travel in Ireland and internationally, and on occasion to remote environments with limited communication or logistical support.
