The Global Mining Business within Golder provides integrated engineering and environmental services to the mining industry, with an enviable list of clients that include mining companies, consultants, engineering firms, and financial institutions. Golder Mining is coordinated on a global level through a network of mining specialists located in North and Latin America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia, providing a series of unique service packages that cover mine water, mine waste, mine environment, mine infrastructure and mine engineering and geology. The Hydrogeologist will be part of the European Mine Water Group, providing groundwater services across a variety of sectors, primarily mining but also oil & gas, urban development & infrastructure, manufacturing, and power, according to business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Development of groundwater conceptual models for mining, waste, and contaminated sites, the preparation of risk assessments for contaminated sites, hydrogeological input to mining studies (scoping to Feasibility) and ESIAs for mining, petroleum, and other development projects

  • Perform field work on integrated hydrogeological and geotechnical programmes to include monitoring, supervision of borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, aquifer testing (including the use of borehole packers), installation of grouted vibrating wire piezometers, geotechnical logging and testing, core logging and other field tasks as required

  • Collation and quality management of environmental and geotechnical data

  • Factual and interpretive reporting of field data and site condition

  • Meeting with clients (both new and existing) and assisting with maintaining and developing relationships with those clients

  • Managing and participating actively in the development of budgets and plans for projects and proposals

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients through networking contacts

  • Supporting Seniors with business development opportunities

  • Provide support in the production of technical reports

  • Assist with writing and preparing proposals

  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment, encouraging the contribution of ideas to continuously improve projects and processes

  • Project based travel and site work, working away from home both in the UK and overseas. The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need

  • Working in a collaborative manner with the rest of the Mine Water Group and others within Golder as required
