Golder Associates Tailings Technician in Osborne Park, Australia

Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our team for a Tailings Technician, based in Perth where you will support our engineering team to undertake specialist laboratory testing, primarily on tailings samples. In addition, you will gain experience with field and laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, rock and other materials.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in preparing samples for specialist tailings tests.

  • Undertaking settling and air-drying tests under direction.

  • Undertaking geotechnical characterisation tests on tailings sample.

  • Assisting in placing and removing samples from devices and assisting in setting up new equipment

  • Maintaining, calibrating, and setting up equipment for use in testing in line with NATA standards.

  • Providing support with the shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage, and disposal of samples.

  • Undertaking classification and testing of samples for analysis, basic calculations, and data entry for reporting in line with NATA standards.

  • Liaising with internal and external clients, with a focus on delivering against project deadlines

  • Actively raising HSE issues with peers, contractors and visitors and assisting in seeking resolution for identified issues.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake.

  • Experience in laboratory and field testing of soils to NATA standards.

  • Experience with tailings/mine waste is desirable.

  • Maintain a high level of quality and integrity in all laboratory activities.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs and basic mathematical skills.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbally with a client service focus.

  • Manual drivers’ licence.
