The Ottawa office is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our Waste Management Services Group. The successful candidate will work within our Environmental Division, which consists of professional engineers, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, risk assessors, process engineers, archaeologists and biologists.
An overview of your role will include:
Assisting with field investigation programs; drilling, test pits, soil sampling, monitoring well installations, aquifer testing, groundwater and surface water sampling, etc.;
Quality assurance monitoring and overall construction management of waste management projects;
Reviewing landfill site hydrogeology for modifications to monitoring programs and/or contaminant transport modelling;
Working with municipal and provincial governments and other agencies to establish submission requirements for permitting, preparing applications and obtaining approvals;
Carrying out contaminant transport and/or landfill gas models;
Assisting with design and specification preparation for engineered components of landfill sites (including leachate collection and removal, landfill gas collection and leachate treatment systems);
Preparing detailed cost estimates for proposed engineering and other works;
Assisting with waste planning projects including waste management plans, demolition waste monitoring and comparisons of waste management technologies;
Participating in office and project duties such as data management, analysis and interpretation, report preparation, proposal preparation, public consultation event planning and other general office duties;
Becoming familiar with and implementing Golder’s policies, including the use of safe work practices in accordance with our Health & Safety requirements
You will have a background in:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering;
1-2 years relevant experience is preferred, but consideration will be given to strong candidates who may not fulfill this requirement;
Academic qualifications that give the candidate eligibility for professional registration in Ontario;
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Excellent organizational and time management abilities;
Excellent attention to detail; and
Willing to travel to remote project sites for limited periods of time.
