Golder has a new opportunity for a Geotechnical Technical Director to join our Geotechnical engineering team on a full time basis based in Ottawa.

The primary focus of the Technical Director, will be identifying and developing new business opportunities for the Ground Engineering team, developing existing key client relationships as well as providing technical leadership, mentoring, developing graduate and intermediate individuals and providing project direction. Target projects will range from heavy civil and geotechnical engineering for major infrastructure, transportation, and land development.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Work collaboratively with other senior members to implement and deliver the business growth strategy, inclusive of identifying and securing new business opportunities

  • Leadership of project teams ensuring successful delivery of technical excellence and projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards

  • Support and encourage the technical development of the team to meet CPD and chartership objectives and be recognized as a mentor and role model, offering motivation and encouragement to team members

  • Lead the production of technical reports and proposals

  • Display a ‘safety first’ attitude in line with an interdependent health and safety culture, promote positive health and safety, raise safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhere to Golder’s health and safety policy and procedures

  • Act as a visible role model of Golder’s culture, demonstrating values and behaviours consistent with the Code of Conduct and Core Values

  • Ensure actions and behaviours are aligned to Golder’s Equality Policy at all times

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering with a focus in Geotechnics (Master in Geotechnical will be an asset)

  • 15 years’ experience (post-degree) working in a consulting engineering environment at a senior project management level

  • Proven work winner with an ability to write technically and commercially sound proposals

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (in English)

  • Must be eligible to register as a professional engineer in the Province of Ontario

  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills are essential

  • Strong leadership, delegation, mentoring and influencing skills

  • Strong project and financial management skills

  • Ability to liaise with clients and effectively develop relationships

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Full driving license
