Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Civil / Environmental Engineer to join our Water and Wastewater Treatment team on a full time 12 months contract basis based in Ottawa or Kingston , Ontario .
An overview of your role will include:
Carrying out designs of drainage, grading, utilities, underground services and roadways for residential, commercial and institutional sites, many in the rural area;
Carrying out general environmental management assignments and assisting clients with environmental compliance programs;
Carrying out storm water management calculations and design;
Assisting with land development design and approval processes including required studies and investigations;
Assisting senior and intermediate project engineers within the environmental division with field investigation programs; drilling, test pitting, soil sampling, monitoring well installations, aquifer testing, groundwater and surface water sampling, etc.;
Assisting with design and evaluation of biological, chemical and mechanical treatment systems for wastewater and process water from mining, industrial and institutional sites;
Supervision of construction review or inspections for surface works and underground services;
Working with municipal and provincial governments and other agencies to confirm submission requirements and obtain approvals;
Preparing detailed cost estimates for proposed engineering and other works;
Assisting with Design and evaluation of on-site or communal sewage treatment and water supply systems;
Participating in office and project duties such as data management, analysis and interpretation, report preparation, proposal preparation and other general office duties; and,
Using safe work practices in accordance with our site-specific Health & Safety plans.
You need to possess the following requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s degree preferred;
4 years of related experience;
Professional engineering licence in the province of Ontario preferred;
Professional engineering licence in the province of Quebec an asset;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Strong technical skills and critical thinking skills are essential;
Willingness and ability to carry out field work at various project sites as required;
Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle;
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset;
Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel;
Experience with hydrologic models (e.g. Visual OTTHYMO and SWMM) is an asset;
Experience within the manufacturing and industrial sector is an asset; and,
A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
