Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Geotechnical Field Technician to join our Environmental Planning team on a contract basis based in Ottawa , Ontario.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Conduct in site testing of various materials on construction sites, including; compaction testing, asphalt testing, and concrete/grout testing;

  • Field monitoring and testing of various construction materials and preparation of field reports for infrastructure, building, and roadway projects;

  • Work with and provide support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required;

  • Project co-ordination at a junior level;

  • Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;

  • Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and,

  • Work with and provide support to members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required.

You will have a background in:

  • College Diploma in a Civil Engineering program or a Civil Engineering Technology diploma program, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering;

  • Previous experience working as a geotechnical technician is an asset;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Written and verbal communication skills in French is an asset;

  • Knowledge of drilling and test pitting procedures is an asset;

  • Willing to travel:

  • Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license; and,

  • Strong organizational skills.
