The Redmond,Washington office is seeking an entry-level Civil/Water Resource Engineer to work as part of a team focused on civil, water, and hydrotechnical resource related projects. The successful candidate will be able to assist and support on a diverse range of topics including, but not limited to, the following: hydrology, hydraulics, fluvial geomorphology, civil design, pipe and pumping systems, earthen embankments and dams, new mine design and mine remediation, linear project hydrotechnical hazards assessments, hydrotechnical mitigation engineering, erosion and slope stability mitigation engineering, surface water management, and industrial site remediation and transportation projects. Work includes integration and collaboration with related geotechnical, geologic, and environmental efforts. An appreciation for high quality, effective communication, and client-focused work products is essential. Some travel will be required.
The preferred candidatewill have the following qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year ofrelated experience
Bachelor’s degree inCivil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline) required; and anM.S. in a water resource or similar related discipline preferred (i.e. CivilEngineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline).
Ability to communicateeffectively both verbally and in writing, a positive attitude and the abilityto work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience with AutoCADand Civil3D (preferred).
Proficient in the use ofstandard MSOffice tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
A strong interest in someor all of the skills as described below.
Experience collaboratingwith related geotechnical, geologic, and/or environmental work.
Eligibility forProfessional registration as an Engineer in Training in State of Washington inrelated discipline or proven eligibility for Professional registration in US.
Willingness to travellocally/internationally.
Desired Skills (Familiarity or experience with):
Hydrologic, hydraulic,and/or fluvial geomorphic (i.e. hydrotechnical) assessments, analyses,calculations, mitigation, and related technical engineering concepts.
Hydrology and hydraulic numericaland analytical modeling using spreadsheet-based tools, and/or software such as 1DHEC-RAS and HEC-HMSprograms, other 2D hydrodynamic modeling tools (i.e. HEC_RAS2D, TUFLOW, etc.).
Basin or site-scale waterbalance and water supply assessments
Stream, riverine, andfloodplain dynamics assessment and mitigation.
Hydrotechnical hazardassessments and mitigation.
Ground surface erosionassessments and mitigation.
Open-channel andfloodplain erosion and scour processes assessments and mitigation.
Water quality datamanagement, evaluation, and interpretation.
Civil layout, gradingand/or drainage design.
Pressurized piping/pumpsystems design.
Compiling constructiondocuments including design drawings and specifications.
Construction and/orfield experience.
