The Redmond, Washington office of Golder Associates, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated entry-level Environmental Geochemist to join its dynamic team. The selected candidate will support geochemistry-related projects and proposal efforts with an emphasis on inorganic contaminant impacts on groundwater quality. Projects typically involve data and site evaluation, geochemical modeling, and supporting development of remediation strategies at industrial (e.g., manufacturing, mining, power) client sites.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Providing support for geochemical projects related to site characterization, evaluation, and remediation strategy development
Conducting geochemical investigation and characterization studies associated with groundwater, surface water, wastes, and geological materials
Validating, management and analysis of geochemical data
Conducting water quality and geochemical modeling
Report and presentation preparation
Sampling of groundwater, surface water, wastes, and geologic materials
Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus

The selected candidate will demonstrate a passion for geochemistry and geology, possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, be committed to producing technically excellent work in a client-focused environment and have the following preferred qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field. Ideally with a strong quantitative background
Academic knowledge of geology, geochemistry, mineralogy, hydrology, and physical and chemical hydrogeology
Strong understanding of the relationship between aquifer materials and groundwater quality
Experience with data manipulation and compilation, including experience with data management and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, EQuIS, Python, R)
Experience in geochemical and water quality modeling using common codes (PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench)
Experience in GIS data manipulation and processing using common software (Arc Map, QGIS)
Strong relational skills within the team environment and with clients are essential
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Willingness to travel to domestic and international project locations
0-3 years’ work experience
Desirable qualifications but not required:
Doctoral Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field
Knowledge of organic contaminants and microbially-mediated degradation processes
Working knowledge of stable isotope geochemistry
Coursework in numerical groundwater flow and/or vadose zone modeling
Foreign language skills, in particular Spanish
HAZWOPER 40hr Operations level qualified or recertification eligible
MSHA 24hr level qualified or recertification eligible
Experience in field data collection
Experience in laboratory analysis
Experience with data validation techniques for environmental data
