Golder is seeking a Geophysicist to join our Redmond, WA based team. As a key member of the team, you will support new and existing engineering, environmental and geotechnical projects using a strong foundation in geophysical and geologic knowledge. Executing field work with the ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally is a necessity. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, client-focused project delivery, and strong work ethic.
Field data collection planning and implementation insupport of geophysical investigations at the surface, in marineenvironments, and within boreholes. This work may include electromagnetic,electrical resistivity, seismic refraction, ground penetrating radar,seismic reflection and refraction, and magnetometer surveys at the surface.Marine surveys may include sub bottomprofiling, sidescan sonar, single- and multi-beam bathymetry, andmagnetometer surveys. Borehole logging tasks may include optical andacoustic televiewer, gamma, resistivity, temperature, caliper,self-potential, water quality, video, full-waveform sonic, nuclearmagnetic resonance, colloidal borescope, and induction logging.
Interpretation of geophysical data using datamanipulation tools and numerical modeling tools (such as SeisImager,SurfSeis, RES2D, EarthImager, RADAN, RadExplorer, WellCAD, Excel, Access,R, etc.).
Working with engineers, geologists, geochemists, GISspecialists, and other environmental experts to contribute to largermultidisciplinary projects.
Understanding the regulatory environment as necessaryto successfully complete project work. Qualifications
The preferred candidatewill possess the following skills and attributes:
MS in Geology (with geophysics focus), GeophysicalEngineering or Geological Engineering, with an emphasis in fundamental geophysicalprinciples;
At least one-year relevant work experience;
An interest in field data collection andinstrumentation;
Willing to operate and maintain field testing and monitoringequipment and be able to lift 50 pounds;
Willing and able to travel both locally andinternationally (anticipate some projects will require >50% of timespent in field). Assignments may include travel to remote locations andoutside work in various climates;
Ability to communicate technical information toclients, regulators, and colleagues in a readily understood format.
All candidates must have excellent and demonstratedverbal and written communications skills.
Strong commitment to quality and timely delivery ofservices.
Strong interpersonal, team building, and criticalthinking skills are essential.
Proficient in the use of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Surfer, Excel,Access, and/or other software used to support geophysical investigations;
Demonstrated experience in quantitative geophysicalinterpretation
Previous health and safety training, such as OSHAHAZWOPER or MSHA preferred.
