Golder is seeking a Senior Industrial Hygienist to join our Redmond WA or California office locations Irvine, Sunnyvale, Roseville or Walnut Creek . The ideal candidate will have experience with building client relationships, managing industrial hygiene (IH) and environment, health & safety (EHS) projects, and conducting IH/EHS tasks at industrial facilities. He or she will work independently while supporting a group of highly engaged IH/safety professionals across the country. The candidate also needs to have a willingness to develop business and become involved in the local/regional IH community to network and raise Golder’s brand regarding industrial hygiene services.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Managing projects that involve collection of workplace environmental exposure data including ventilation, air and noise, asbestos, mold, biohazards, and chemicals

  • Analyzing workplace environmental and exposure data to identify potential health and safety risks and recommend corrective action plans

  • Conducting EHS and IH audits and providing local advice and guidance of applicable regulations when required

  • Preparing and reviewing technical proposals (including scope, schedule, and budget) in response to client needs

  • Managing tasks and projects according to client-approved scopes of work, and delivering high quality reports on time and within budget; this includes coordinating work with clients, subcontractors and Golder field personnel, managing and interpreting data, preparing or reviewing reports, and presenting results to clients

  • Local and national travel (up to 50% of the time) as required for project needs and business development purposes

  • Capable of conducting in-person inspections at industrial facilities

  • Developing business with new and existing clients in the service area of IH/EHS while collaborating within Golder to expand work to these clients into service areas beyond IH/EHS

  • Actively mentoring staff across the organization to develop their IH/EHS expertise

  • Introducing junior staff to existing clients, and helping them learn to pursue new business, seek opportunities through regular client contact, and otherwise build an external network

  • Providing senior technical leadership in management of local, regional, and potentially global IH/EHS programs, including client & project management and contributing to strategic planning

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar discipline

  • Minimum 10 years EHS experience with a working knowledge of federal, state, and local IH/EHS regulations, including those related to occupational health & safety assessments and programs

  • Excellent verbal, writing, and organizational skills combined with leadership ability, a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within groups

  • Strong attention to detail; accuracy is essential

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • Understanding the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Health & Safety, Environmental, Science, Engineering, or similar discipline

  • Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, PE, CHMM or equivalent

  • Experience with:

  • Audits and EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)

  • Developing and auditing health & safety programs in manufacturing settings

  • Environmental permitting and reporting

  • Business development and client service management with a proven track record of developing project opportunities and maintaining successful client relationships

  • Strong existing client relationships and professional contacts
