Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer for the Reno office To provide a variety of geotechnical, civil, and mining engineering services to many high profile projects in the central Nevada and throughout the world. Due to increasing workloads, we currently have an immediate and long-term opening for a civil engineer.
The successful candidate/s will provide engineering support for planning, design and construction expertise on civil engineering and large earthworks and environmental projects. As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will apply your civil and/or geotechnical engineering capabilities to a variety of projects. You will work with Golder’s clients and your other client contacts to bring in new work for Golder’s civil design group
Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, Golder's clients, employees and the public.
Participating on engineering projects from the proposal stage to planning and directing the field program.
Involvement with and mentoring within the office and across the country.
Field data analysis and interpretation, report writing and client/project coordination. While the primary focus will be on civil mining projects, opportunities will exist to work on an variety large engineering projects, as well as with other Golder offices worldwide.
Assisting in the development of project specific plans.
Participating in the design, preparation of detailed design drawings and technical specification for a wide range of projects.
Collecting, preparing and tracking information for various project documents including proposals and progress reports.
Undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office. Including geotechnical field investigation programs, construction monitoring, site reconnaissance, quality assurance and supervising quality control (QA/QC) testing of the work performed by subcontractors.
Adhering to QA/ QC procedures to ensure completion of project documents according to company standards.
Design and manage geotechnical investigations programs, of various size.
Undertake a wide variety of geotechnical investigations and design that may include ground improvement programs, foundation design and stability assessments.
Scheduling laboratory testing, analysing the results, and report writing.
Participate in the civil and geotechnical engineering design of surface facilities to support the mining industry in Nevada.
Opportunities will exist to work on engineering projects throughout Golder’s global network of offices.
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, with a M.Sc. Degree in Civil or Geotechnical preferred.
Self-motivated and well organized.
Good oral presentation and report writing skills.
A strong “safety first” focus.
Strong all-round academic knowledge of civil/geotechnical engineering and construction materials.
Preference given to those with previous related field experience.
Registration or eligibility for registration for as an Engineer-in-Training.
A valid driver’s license is required.
