Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Civil/Geological Engineer to Join our US Mine Waste Team in our Reno, Nevada office. You will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Working within our US Mine Waste Team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry.
Performing engineering analyses and design such as:
Grading, storage capacity, and environmental liner system design
Pressure and gravity pumping and piping
Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, and settlement
Geotechnical and geological site and material characterization
Surface water management
Preparing portions of technical reports documenting field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs
Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
Site work including reconnaissance, siting studies, geotechnical investigation, and construction quality assurance support
Performing domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geological Engineering or an equivalent field of study (preference may be given to candidates with a graduate degree in a relevant field of study)
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete the exam within 6 months of start date
Strong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analyses;
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience and ability to use software programs including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn technical engineering software.
Ability to work both independently and on teams and comfort working in remote settings.
Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
