Golder Associates Junior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer in RENO, Nevada

Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Civil/Geological Engineer to Join our US Mine Waste Team in our Reno, Nevada office. You will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Working within our US Mine Waste Team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry.

  • Performing engineering analyses and design such as:

  • Grading, storage capacity, and environmental liner system design

  • Pressure and gravity pumping and piping

  • Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, and settlement

  • Geotechnical and geological site and material characterization

  • Surface water management

  • Preparing portions of technical reports documenting field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs

  • Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates

  • Site work including reconnaissance, siting studies, geotechnical investigation, and construction quality assurance support

  • Performing domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geological Engineering or an equivalent field of study (preference may be given to candidates with a graduate degree in a relevant field of study)

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete the exam within 6 months of start date

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analyses;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience and ability to use software programs including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn technical engineering software.

  • Ability to work both independently and on teams and comfort working in remote settings.

  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

  • An active focus on health and safety
