Golder Associates Civil Design Draftsperson in Richmond, Australia

Golder has a new opportunity for a Civil Design Draftsperson to join our team on a permanent basis based in Melbourne . You will be involved in a variety of geotechnical, civil, structural and mining infrastructure projects and collaborative with a high performing team to deliver successfully to our clients. You will have excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and good interpersonal skills.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking civil/geotechnical drawings (concept to detailed design and construction issue) on a range of geotechnical and civil design projects, with a focus on containment structures such as landfill facilities, ponds and tailings storage facilities;

  • Preparing bill of quantities based on the designs and figures for reports;

  • Performing scaling, dimensioning, or line locating according to standard industry procedures;

  • Combining various details from sketches, and drawings and makes required calculations;

  • Assisting design recommendations to key stakeholders;

  • Assisting in developing and advancing the drafting skills within the Adelaide office and nationally; and

  • Developing 3D models on a range of civil and mining infrastructure projects and able to perform quantities analyses (depending on 3D-modelling skills).

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Completion of, or progress towards, a relevant Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Computer Aided Design or Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) is preferred.

  • Civil drafting and design experience (using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software package).

  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to use initiative, discretion and sound judgement in carrying out assigned duties.

  • 3D-modelling skills and experience (using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software package) are desirable but not essential.
