Golder Associates Hydrogeologist/Environmental Scientist in Richmond, Australia

Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our Water team for a Hydrogeologist/ Environmental Scientist, based in Melbourne. The role includes assisting the hydrogeological site investigations including groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, hydraulic tests, and drilling programmes. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to understand client’s needs.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing safe leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating safety hazards.

  • Designing, supervising, and undertaking hydrogeological site investigations including groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, hydraulic tests, drilling programmes.

  • Measuring water levels, producing groundwater contours, assessing groundwater flow directions and gradients.

  • Interpreting bore logs and other geological information into 3D geological models.

  • Developing hydrogeological conceptual models.

  • Interpreting chemical data in the context of its hydrogeological setting.

  • Conducting aquifer tests, e.g. pumping tests, packer tests.

  • Preparing proposals, reports, and deliverables under senior review.

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with technological and legislative developments.

  • Providing water licensing and compliance support.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated field and site experience with strong health and safety focus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication with interpersonal skills.

  • An ability to articulate complex issues simply with a client focus and quality delivery.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced in Excel.
