Golder has a new opportunity for a CAD Manager to join our Richmond office. In this role you will provide support on civil and environmental related projects and manage the office CAD resources.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation of permit, design and construction drawings for civil and environmental related projects involving waste management, water and waste water treatment, environmental restoration and remediation, and other specialty environmental projects;

  • Assist in the design of projects that will include grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control, based on input from project engineers;

  • Assist in the preparation of plan sets, profiles, sections and details, and record drawings; and figures for proposals, reports, and presentations;

  • Compile aerial and field surveys into base maps;

  • Create 3D surfaces representing various ground engineering features such as graded terrain, tailings depositions, haul roads, dams, open pits, quarries, landfills, channels, and ponds;

  • Perform workload and resource management for a CAD group of up to 5 people;

  • Provide daily supervision, training, and mentoring of CAD resources;

  • Provide quality control reviews on CAD generated deliverables;

  • Maintain the electronic CAD file system and compliance with internal graphical standards


  • Practical knowledge of Civil 3D including: alignments, feature lines, profiles, grading, surfaces, sheet set manager, and volume calculations. Corridors and pipe networks a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and including Adobe Acrobat

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions or constructability issues

  • Strong sense of commitment to CAD standards and procedures

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects/tasks and respond to the needs of several project managers
