The Richmond, Virginia office of Golder Associates, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Scientist to support a variety of civil and environmental projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Contractor safety/environmental oversight for construction or manufacturing projects
Develop, implement, and proactively lead the continuous improvement of all EHS policies, processes, and programs with workers and clients;
Conduct environmental and safety audits to ensure compliance to client and regulatory standards;
Lead incident and root cause investigations;
Manage corrective actions for health, safety, and environmental findings;
Organize and track records and statistics;
Direct trainings to continuously improve the EHS culture;
Implement and manage the environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures
Produce reports for EHS permits and regulations;
Serve as technical resource for construction EHS;
Perform field activities for occupational health exposure monitoring, including noise monitoring, industrial hygiene sample collection, preparation of chain of custody and other documentation;
Assist as needed with data review and compilation, technical writing, and meeting internal Company quality control and external regulatory objectives;
Assist with the development and distribution of field notes, meeting minutes, project action item lists, internal tracking of projects activities, and general project coordination activities in support of project managers;
Assist in preparing studies, plans, specifications, response to regulatory comments, and other communications for civil and environmental engineering projects, and;
Attend regular project meetings
Application of management systems, such as ISO 14001, Responsible Care® 14000, or OSHA VPP
B.S. in Environmental Health and Safety (or associated science)
2-4 years’ experience
OSHA 30 preferred; OSHA 500 preferred; HAZWOPER 40 preferred
