Golder has a new opportunity for a Solid Waste Engineer to join our Engineering team in our Richmond, VA office. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide technical expertise, project management, and client relations services for a broad range of civil/geotechnical engineering and environmental projects. Assignments may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

This role will manage and oversee projects to include solid waste and coal combustion residuals (CCR) management facility design and permitting, leachate and wastewater management, civil engineering design, stormwater design, geotechnical evaluation, subsurface investigation, landfill gas system design, and environmental permitting. Project delivery and management will require deliverables preparation (reports, permit applications, drawings), budget and schedule management, billing and project tracking, and interaction with other Golder offices, clients, subcontractors, and regulators. Occasional travel will be required for project work, client meetings, conferences, and Golder company meetings. Additional position responsibilities include:

  • Understand and articulate current industryregulations, standards of care, and technical advancements;

  • Prioritize, coordinate, and review/evaluate workproducts prepared by scientists, engineers, and CADD designers;

  • Mentor junior team members and support staffdevelopment;

  • Develop new business from existing clients andprospects;

  • Prepare proposals (scope, schedule, and budget);

  • Represent Golder at industry events andassociations;

  • Manage multiple projects through all phases ofdevelopment; and

  • Coordinate with other teams serving the sameclients.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • BS in Civil, Geotechnical, or EnvironmentalEngineering or related field required;

  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting experiencerequired, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region, including project management,proposal writing, client contact, and regulatory interaction.

  • Virginia P.E registration preferred;

  • Excellent verbal and written communicationskills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, apositive attitude and ability to work both independently and within groups;

  • Travel and field work required as dictated byproject demands;

  • A willingness to perform a variety ofassignments on short notice is valuable;

  • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite ofprograms (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary;

  • Focused organization and time managementabilities;
