Golder has a new opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Mining Process and Infrastructure team in a full-time position at our Salt Lake City, UT office.

The Process and Infrastructure Design group provides specialized services in the field of paste backfill and surface dewatered tailings disposal, as well as other mine backfill technologies such as hydraulic, rock and aggregate fills. The paste disposal field is an emerging specialist niche and Golder is currently the world leader in the provision of these types of services to premier mining clients. The use of paste technology has also expanded into non-traditional areas, such as mine remediation, environmental remediation and the treatment of coal ash. Golder is at the forefront of advancing these services areas. Our team has expanded capabilities in underground mine infrastructure design, for example, ore handling systems, mine dewatering, shaft design and fuel and lube facilities. As a result, our consultants are in demand throughout the world and Golder can offer a very interesting and stimulating work environment for an engineer who will be surrounded by leaders in the field.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Work on projects from conceptual level studies to detailed engineering; field work may including mobile plant backfilling operations, fixed plant commissioning and operations;

  • Review laboratory or field testing and data interpretation;

  • Working under the supervision of senior-level engineers to perform tasks related to:

  • development of process flow diagrams;

  • process design criteria;

  • mass, water, and energy balances;

  • piping and instrumentation diagram;

  • equipment specifications;

  • capital and operating cost estimates;

  • Support and lead the preparation of proposals, presentations and reports;

  • Liaise with vendors, clients and other Golder teams; and

  • Work in team-based engineering environment on open pit mining, and underground mining projects.


  • An undergraduate degree in Chemical, Mining or Metallurgical Engineering

  • At least five years of experience in process engineering

  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills

  • Strong data review, manipulation, and management skills

  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment


  • Experience in the consulting and/or mining industry

  • Professional engineering registration, preferably in Utah
