Golder has a new opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Mine Waste Engineering team on a full time basis based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Working with project teams on civil, geotechnical, and mining projects

  • Managing projects or project tasks and providing oversight of and technical direction for junior staff

  • Performing engineering analyses such as:

  • Site and material characterization

  • Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, and settlement

  • Surface water management

  • Preparing reports documenting field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs

  • Preparing project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates

  • Communicating with clients and developing scopes of work

  • Developing plans for and conducting domestic and international field assignments, such as inspections, investigations, and construction monitoring

  • Preparing and implementing project health and safety plans

The successful candidate will have a background in:


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in geotechnical engineering or an equivalent field of study

  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience

  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire

  • Skill and experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GeoStudio, and Rocscience Slide

  • Strong engineering skills and ability to complete geotechnical calculations and analyses

  • Experience with geotechnical investigation activities such as soil sampling, logging, in-situ testing, instrumentation installation, and groundwater sampling and geotechnical laboratory testing

  • Detailed oriented with strong analytical skill and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams

  • Comfortable in remote settings, with a can-do attitude, and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands

  • An active focus on health and safety for themselves and others


  • Preference may be given to candidates with a graduate degree in a relevant field of study
