Golder Associates Senior Project Hydrogeologist in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Project Hydrogeologist to join our Mining Team in a full-time position in Salt Lake City, Utah . Reporting to the Mine Water US Group Leader. This individual will provide office and field support for engineering and environmental investigations and operational water management for the mining sector.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Support geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological studies related to mine water management projects while working independently or under the direction of senior specialists

  • Conduct and lead field work, including site characterization, drilling supervision, well installation and maintenance, hydraulic testing, and water quality sampling

  • Provide technical support to geologic and hydrogeologic visualization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling, and development of conceptual site models

  • Develop proposals and prepare technical reports

  • Develop relationships with internal mining services teams and external clients

  • Mentor junior staff


  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, or a similar scientific field of study

  • At least five years of relevant experience

  • Experience in the mining sector, including working on mine sites

  • A Professional Geologist designation, or the ability to obtain registration, in the relevant jurisdiction(s)

  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time

  • Demonstrated proficiency with technical writing


  • Graduate or post-graduate level knowledge of hydrogeological concepts

  • Consulting experience

  • Experience with the operation and troubleshooting of hydrogeological testing equipment including pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and electronics

  • Strong field and laboratory skills, with demonstrated applications of hydrogeological principles, quantitative hydrogeology and/or geotechnical soils testing

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, MODFLOW, GIS, geological modeling, geochemical modeling, etc.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPPER health and safety training

  • MSHA surface new miner training
