Golder has a new opportunity for an Junior Geotechnical Lab Technician to join our Geotechnical Engineering & Lab team on a full-time, temporary basis based in Saskatoon. Positions are also available in Calgary or Edmonton.
An overview of your role will include:
Plan, organize, and schedule work for various projects
Communicate with contractors during project execution
Geotechnical laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, asphalt and advanced soil testing including documentation and reporting
Participating in sample receipt, handling, and storage control
Field nuclear density compaction testing and construction inspection while maintaining construction QA/QC
Concrete testing including lab and field
Monitoring various types of geotechnical instrumentation
Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
Coordinate findings with work of engineering personnel, clients, and others concerned with project
Your experience will include:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision
Diploma in Civil Technology or related discipline from an accredited institution
Minimum 1 year of experience or relevant co-op work term
Canadian Drivers licence required
Geotechnical and Hydrogeological field investigations including drilling and sampling with various types of instrumentation installations experience is considered an asset
Valid CCIL/CSA concrete testing certification would be considered an asset
Topographic and construction surveying experience is considered an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills
