Golder Associates Junior Geotechnical Lab Technician in SASKATOON, Saskatchewan

Golder has a new opportunity for an Junior Geotechnical Lab Technician to join our Geotechnical Engineering & Lab team on a full-time, temporary basis based in Saskatoon. Positions are also available in Calgary or Edmonton.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Plan, organize, and schedule work for various projects

  • Communicate with contractors during project execution

  • Geotechnical laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, asphalt and advanced soil testing including documentation and reporting

  • Participating in sample receipt, handling, and storage control

  • Field nuclear density compaction testing and construction inspection while maintaining construction QA/QC

  • Concrete testing including lab and field

  • Monitoring various types of geotechnical instrumentation

  • Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed

  • Coordinate findings with work of engineering personnel, clients, and others concerned with project

Your experience will include:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision

  • Diploma in Civil Technology or related discipline from an accredited institution

  • Minimum 1 year of experience or relevant co-op work term

  • Canadian Drivers licence required

  • Geotechnical and Hydrogeological field investigations including drilling and sampling with various types of instrumentation installations experience is considered an asset

  • Valid CCIL/CSA concrete testing certification would be considered an asset

  • Topographic and construction surveying experience is considered an asset

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
