Golder has a new opportunity for an experienced and motivated mid to senior-level Engineering Geologist to support geotechnical, land use, and environmental projects in our Sunnyvale, CA office. The qualified candidate shall be a registered Geologist and preferably a Certified Engineering Geologist in the State of California with a minimum of 10 years of experience in consulting. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams directed towards solving complex problems for our solid waste, mining and manufacturing client base. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated team leadership skills, a positive attitude and strong project management skills.
Responsibilities of therole will include:
Build and maintainlong-term relationships with key clients by providing technical expertise,attending client meetings and leading project development pursuits
Lead on interface andnegotiations with regulatory agencies (local, state and federal agencies) onbehalf of our clients
Supervise and managegeologists to perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for theidentification of geologic hazards and site characterization;
Plan and managesubsurface field geologic exploration tasks including HSA, direct push,rotosonic, and rotary drilling campaigns;
Provideinterpretation of subsurface conditions and develop conceptual geologic models
Review geologicsamples and geologic unit identification, assign laboratory testing andsupervise the preparation of exploration records;
Provide direction onthe design and installation of monitoring wells and geotechnicalinstrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers, etc.);
Interpret geologic,geochemical, and geophysical data and write geotechnical and geologic reportsfor submittal to regulatory agencies;
Conduct geologicresearch, write project proposals and reports;
Provide technicaldirection and oversight as well as mentoring and training to junior-levelGolder staff;
The successful candidatewill have:
Master’s degree inGeology, Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering preferred
Minimum of 10 yearsof relevant experience
Professional registration: CA Professional Geologist (PG)and CA Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)
Experience managingcomplex subsurface investigations including: drilling, soil classification,monitoring well installation and instrumentation;
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesefficiently with a strong attention to detail and work product quality.
Experience andproficiency using remote sensing data (LIDAR and aerial imagery) and GIS toolsto develop geologic maps and identify geologic hazards
Candidates must bewilling to work in the field conducting physically rigorous field geologic datacollection in a variety of terrain and weather conditions;
Must be able to liftup to 50 lbs.;
Must have excellentcommunication and writing skills, with demonstrated report writing skills;
Preference will be given to candidateswith the following:
Broad experience withboth geotechnical- and environmental-focused projects;
Demonstrated successwith permitting and regulatory compliance for complex projects
Excellent clientrelationship skills with demonstrated track record of successful projectoutcomes
