Golder has an exciting opportunity for an established ContaminatedLand Consultant to join our Site Characterisation and Remediation (SCR) Practice Full Time based in Tadcaster near Leeds .

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Project TaskManagement and Delivery : Supports the management of the full projectcycle from project initiation, through planning and executing to close,typically within the arena of management of land contamination in a nuclear,transactional or regulatory setting.Embarkingon technical and financial management of projects.

  • ClientRelationship Management : Maintains and develops excellentrelationships with clients, displaying a broad understanding of client needs,and using this knowledge to cross-sell and deepen client relationships.

  • Technical Knowledgeand Support : Uses technical knowledge to prepare factual deliverablesto a high standard and provides support and mentoring to less experiencedcolleagues to aid their professional (including technical) development.

  • Networking : Uses anestablished and active professional network to raise the profile of Golder inthe wider contaminated land and environmental consulting industry.

  • ContinuedProfessional Development : Committed to developing own skills andcompetence in the role with support from Golder managers and mentor.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Displays a ‘safety first’ attitude in line with aninterdependent health and safety culture.Promotes positive health and safety culture, raises safety matters in anappropriate manner and adheres to health and safety policy and procedures.

  • A first degree and desired MSc (or equivalent)in a relevant subject and demonstrable experience in a consulting environment.

  • Chartered (or equivalent level of professionalqualification) relevant to contaminated land or hydrogeology (e.g. CharteredScientist, Chartered Geologist) or enthusiastically working towards this.

  • Strong broad background and experience in characterisationof contaminated land and groundwater, ideally with a focus on risk assessment(human health or controlled waters/water environment) and remediation of soiland groundwater.

  • Knowledge and practical experience ofimplementing UK legislation relating to land transfer, environmentalcompliance, and management of land affected by contamination, includingenvironmental permitting, contaminated land, waste, and planning regimes.Experience of applying this in the nuclearindustry is desirable.

  • Knowledge of the design and management of sitecharacterisation projects including intrusive investigations, field testing,laboratory analysis, development of Conceptual Site Models and Preliminary RiskAssessments.

  • Awareness of quantitative risk assessmentmethodologies for human health, controlled waters and the environment includingCLEA, Remedial Targets Methodology, ConSim etc.

  • Excellent time management and organisationalskills with demonstrable ability to shoulder responsibility to deliver tasks ontime and on budget.Constantly thinkingand troubleshooting - knows the tools available and how to use themappropriately, and able to propose solutions to problems.

  • Works with a high level of accuracy and excellentattention to detail.

  • Ability to work well both independently and aspart of a team, with a strong focus on team success.Able to successfully lead and manage people.

  • Excellent communication skills, both writtenand verbal, in English.Able to effectivelycommunicate with clients, colleagues, suppliers and contractors.

  • Strong client and industry networking andliaison skills, and demonstrable network.

  • Willingness to travel in the UK with a relevantdriving licence.
