Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a CAD Designer to work out of our Tampa, FL office. This Individual’s primary focus will be to deliver Engineering Design Drawing Packages. The candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D. The candidate should be capable of developing engineering drawing sets in coordination with engineers and other designers.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Know and follow the appropriate/applicable design/drafting standards

  • Work closely with various engineering and environmental staff to fill the needs of our internal and external clients in providing civil engineering design and drafting services;

  • Produce maps from topographic data and survey field notes;

  • Prepare engineering plans, profiles, sections and details for design, tender, construction and as-built drawing sets; and figures for proposals, reports and presentations;

  • Develop and maintain base files for information used to complete pipeline and facility designs

  • Ensure technical quality of developed designs.

  • Compile and/or Model 3D surfaces representing various engineering features such as graded terrain, waterways, wetlands, roads, railroads, etc.

  • Research and compile publicly available data (imagery, topography, parcel, existing utilities, etc.) and convert into Civil 3D CAD compatible files.

  • Provide time and cost estimates to complete CAD tasks and provide progress reports when tasks will be difficult to complete within originally allotted schedule and/or budget.

  • Review Survey data to identify missing information or inconsistent data. Format survey data in accordance with provided design/drafting standards.

  • Contribute to design drafting standards continual improvement effort when directed by Group Lead.


  • Technical diploma focusing on AutoCAD or Civil3D; or

  • Degree in Civil Engineering design or equivalentdiscipline required; and

  • At least 5 years field-related work experience usingAutoCAD, Land Development and Civil Design, and/or Civil 3D.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

  • Ability to prioritize and respond to the needs ofmultiple projects and managers;

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work underpressure

  • Independent with strong oral and writtencommunication skills

  • Collaborate as a valued member of amulti-disciplinary team to execute projects that meet or exceed clientexpectations.


  • Good problem solver with ability to identify alternative solutions;

  • Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures;

  • Ability to Compile 3D models ofstructures, equipment, piping, and terrain; and

  • Ability to work with some or all the followingsoftware: ArcGIS and other ESRI products, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Map, RasterDesign, AutoCAD Visual Basic for Applications.
