Golder has a new opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer to join our Mining Team in a Full-Time position at our Tampa, Florida office, reporting to the Mine Waste US Group Leader. This individual will have a proven track record in delivering services to the mining industry related to integrated surface and hydrogeologic modeling, geologic characterization, feasibility studies, environmental permitting, water rights, mine dewatering, and well drilling and testing. The candidate will also have substantial experience and technical expertise related to operational mine water management and deep groundwater investigations.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Direct and manage the design of complex mine water management studies and programs involving the collection of hydrogeological field data and data interpretation/evaluation.
Provide technical leadership on operational water management, including surface water modeling, dewatering and wetland mitigation studies, and analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling in support of geotechnical stability and mining operations.
Lead hydrogeological, geological, and geotechnical studies related to mine water management projects.
Direct and oversee field work programs, including site characterization, drilling supervision, well installation and maintenance, hydraulic testing, and water quality sampling.
Provide leadership to intermediate and senior staff.
Work collaboratively with other senior members of the group to develop and implement the business growth strategy and participate in technical working groups.
Develop and maintain relationships with a broad internal and external client base.
Assist other regional water resource engineering teams with project development and technical support.
Lead the continued development of an advanced computer modelling and simulation team by identifying key hires and mentoring junior and intermediate staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field of study.
Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in the mining sector.
Experience working with Florida mine sites and regional water management projects.
A flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and demanding work environment.
Willingness to travel for periods of up to 2 weeks at a time.
Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, writing and people skills.
Graduate degree or post-graduate level knowledge of hydrogeological concepts.
Experience in consulting.
Professional Geologist or Engineer designation.
Strong field and laboratory skills, with demonstrated applications of hydrogeological principles, quantitative surface/hydrogeology testing.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), MODFLOW, Dam Breach, AICPR, SWMM, MIKE SHE, MIKE , GOLDsim, ArcGIS, Python, geological modeling, geochemical modeling, etc.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training.
MSHA open pit new miner training.
