Golder is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join its Mine Water Division in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for high quality and client focused work product is essential. The ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally is a necessity. As a key member of the team, you will support existing water resource, mining, and environmental projects using a strong foundation in quantitative hydrogeology.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Field data collection planning and implementation in support of hydrogeologic interpretation –
Including preparation, installation, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of field instrumentation for groundwater and surface water monitoring, geologic logging of boreholes, monitoring well installation, oversight of well hydraulic tests, and groundwater and surface water sampling and flow measurements
Interpret hydrogeologic and hydrologic data using data manipulation tools (such as Excel and Access), and numerical and analytical groundwater and contaminant transport modeling tools
Contribute to large multidisciplinary projects while working with engineers, GIS specialists, and other environmental experts
Communicate and document site conditions, observations, and activities
Understand the regulatory environment to successfully complete project work
Bachelor's degree in hydrogeology, geology, or a related field
Strong understanding of geology, physical hydrogeology, surface and subsurface hydrogeology
Solid technical writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients, regulators, and colleagues in a readily understood format
The ability to plan and execute field programs with knowledge of proper data collection and instrumentation techniques
Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands up to 50% of the time (including to remote locations and outside work in various climates)
Graduate or post-graduate level knowledge of hydrogeological concepts
Previous work and/ or familiarity with the mining environment
Experience in field hydrogeological testing and instrumentation
Experience with data management tools (i.e., Excel, EQuIS, Access, Python)
Experience with hydrogeology modeling codes (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, Hydrus)
