Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Contaminated Sites Environmental Engineer or Scientist to join our Environmental Remediation & Water team on a full-time basis . The position is based in Kelowna, BC , and you would be responsible for the continued growth of our contaminated sites practice in the area. Our ideal candidate will be a significant contributor both with strategy and delivery on a team providing project and client management services for contaminated site assessments, investigations, remedial designs, and implementation. In this senior position, you would be responsible for providing technical direction, leading teams and delivering complex site investigation and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience conducting remedial options evaluations and implementing remedial technologies, such as in-situ remediation systems.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Providing technical and strategic leadership while delivering innovative and effective solutions for complex sites with significant remediation challenges within soil, groundwater, and sediment media

  • Leading the scoping and execution of remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs and actions, and remedial optimization and monitoring

  • Leading the preparation and be accountable for technical documents, reports, and other client/regulatory submittals

  • Developing conceptual site models that integrate physical/geologic data, fate & transport, contaminant behavior, and exposure pathways/risk while using GIS/3D models and other tools to effectively support decision-making

  • Evaluating and designing remedial processes for soil, sediment, and groundwater involving multidisciplinary teams, drawing on your significant experience with data interpretation, evaluation of technologies, and formulation of remedial strategies

  • Effective project management for medium to large projects

  • Providing mentoring and supervision for staff relative to technical work; data interpretation, evaluation, and presentations; quantitative methods of analysis; and report writing

  • Delivering presentations and guide others in successfully communicating complex issues and solutions to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders

  • Contributing actively to business development through taking leadership of proposals/qualifications, presentations to clients and stakeholders, and other external activities to build existing and new client accounts

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline such as environmental engineering, contaminant hydrogeology, geology, or environmental science; we value a multi-disciplinary approach to our work

  • 10-15 years of experience in site investigation, remediation and environmental consulting in British Columbia, with in-depth knowledge of provincial and federal requirements; candidates with transferrable skills from other jurisdictions, industry or government will also be considered if they can show how those skills translate to the contaminated sites regulatory process in BC

  • Understanding of the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs and visibly lead by example

  • Strong project management skills with experience leading teams on complex or multi-project programs

  • Strong data evaluation, reporting and verbal communication skills

  • Professional registration with EGBC

  • Contaminated Sites Approved Professional status is desirable.
