Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Mining team on a Full-Time basis based in Phoenix or Tucson , Arizona . Your role could include involvement through all stages of a mining project’s life cycle (i.e. Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control, and Closure) for consulting specific projects.

Most of your work will relate to engineering, science, and/or environmental consulting. You will manage projects in areas such as mine engineering design, permitting, field investigations, desktop analyses, numerical modeling, permitting, studies, research, etc. EPCM is not a focus for this position. You will work closely with technical managers, and support the delivery of projects within Mine Water, Mine Waste, Mine Engineering and Stability, and Mine Environment businesses.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Manage projects with technical teams to deliver them on schedule and budget, and meeting the technical needs of clients and regulatory agencies, as applicable

  • Liaise regularly with project Technical Managers / Directors, technical teams, internal accounting teams, and external clients

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to plan projects (scope, schedule and budget)

  • Apply and follow various Golder project management policies and protocols

  • Assemble and use project monitoring systems, including available financial tools and reports

  • Develop and implement project support plans (health and safety, quality, risk management, communication, documentation, and financial, etc.)

  • Effectively and proactively manage project change

  • Understand and adhere to project and contractual terms and conditions

  • Act as primary (or secondary) client contact, depending on the availability and roles of Golder senior leaders and the needs of the project

  • Provide guidance to Project Coordinators and engineers / scientists on project and program level issues

  • Manage proposals and business development activities (lead by senior staff)

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business or related discipline

  • Minimum of 12 years of professional work experience, including 8 years of consulting and/or project management experience with a large organization

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent accreditation in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, Six Sigma)

  • Experience managing in-house technical resources

  • Strong knowledge of Project Management Systems, and superior project planning and monitoring skills

  • Strong understanding of the importance of health and safety in projects

  • Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work; strong knowledge of Project Management Systems

  • Experience in identifying project risks and assisting with developing and maintaining risk registers.

  • Superior skills related to project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs)

  • Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business or related discipline

  • 5 to 10 years of consulting experience and/or working on multi-disciplinary projects ( engineering, science, environmental, or related disciplines)

  • Demonstrated team player, capable of working collaboratively with senior technical leaders to deliver projects

  • Demonstrated business acumen related to consulting, project delivery, and risk management

  • Experience managing health and safety aspects of project delivery, including multi-disciplinary field work
